bowel cancer

Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month, which is the 4th most common cancer in the UK, and sadly the second biggest cause of Cancer Death.

Symptoms can include a change in bowel habit, blood in the stool or from the rectum, weight loss, abdominal pain and fatigue.

It is important that we remain vigilant for signs of bowel cancer, we are also seeing a rise in cases amongst younger patients.

Bowel Cancer UK has multiple useful resources, including specific information for younger patients with Bowel Cancer. In 2013, they launched a campaign called ‘Never Too Young’, and further information can be found via the following link:

In addition, Shine Cancer Support also offer support to patients in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s with Cancer.
